HOW TO IMPROVE THE

PROBLEM OF UNSTABLE

QUALITY OF MANGOES?

In February, it’s the flowering stage of mango trees. When the busy fruit flies completing pollination will leave, and the cultivation work need to be full prepared in time for the following young fruit and fruit enlargement stage.

Young Fruit Stage

The period from March to April is the young fruit stage for mango trees, the young fruits develop rapidly during this time. Providing additional fertilization can promote fruit enlargement. However, if there is too much nitrogen in the soil, reduce the used amount of nitrogen fertilizer and instead apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, or consider using foliage fertilizer. The principle is to apply small amounts fertilizer frequently, the fertilization should be completed before April to avoid residual fertilizer effects (nitrogen) affecting fruit coloration and causing uneven ripening of "green shoulder" or "green bottom" on the fruit. It is recommended to use Full Energy 100 & Go Growing 370 to improve the fruit set rate and young fruit growth.

Full Energy 100
(Special for full growth period):

3.5-3-3 with calcium, magnesium, boron, molybdenum

1. Increase in production

2. Promote more flowering and fruiting

3. Flowers and fruits are not easy to drop

4. Improve the tolerance to the environment

5. Strengthen root development

Go Growing 370
(Special for Growing, High in Nitrogen):

6.5-3-3 with calcium, magnesium, boron, molybdenum

1. Enhance nutrient absorption.

2. Mesophyll thickens and grows rapidly.

3. Young fruits are expansion rapidly.

4. Increase in production.

Fruit Enlargement Stage

Thinning and pruning:

Once the fruit reaches the size of a thumb, thinning should be done as soon as possible to avoid fruits competition for nutrient. The principle of thinning is 25:1, which means that 25 leaves are needed to support the basic growth and development of one mango fruit, and only 1-2 fruits should be left on each cluster. At the same time, the branches without bearing the fruit should be pruned to promote ventilation and light, adequate sunlight can help improve the color and flavor of fruits.

Antibacterial, Pest control and Fruit Bagging:

Early bagging can reduce the diseases and pests and minimize pesticide use. However, if the young fruit is infected or the insect eggs are not thoroughly cleaning before bagging, it may worsen the problem. Therefore, pest control should be conducted before bagging, apply pesticides once and wait for the pesticide to dry then do the bagging. The bag should be tightly sealed around the fruit pedicel to prevent rainwater, pathogens or pests into the beg from the pedicel. The young fruit should also avoid touching the bag to prevent damage from the oriental fruit fly. Bagging should be completed when the fruit is about the egg size to avoid physiological disorders such as sunburn or gummosis caused by high temperature.

Fruit Enlargement Stage to Post Enlargement Stage:

During the fruit enlargement stage in April and May, the fruits become larger, and the climate becomes hot. Larger fruits are more sensitive to extreme environment conditions such as excessive sunlight, high temperatures, and nutrient imbalances. Especially for fruits weighing over 1,300 grams, the rate of flesh disorders can be as high as 50%. At this time, application of calcium and boron fertilizer to enhance the crop's tolerance to the environment and reduce the incidence of physiological disorders. Besides, trace elements can effectively enhance fruit coloration and increase sweetness and enhance the flavor. It is recommended to use Ca Strong 801 & Go Beauty 380 & Go Sweet 390 to improve the quality, yield, sweetness and color change of the fruit.

Ca Strong 801(Special for Summer and Water Retention):

3-2.5-4.5 with Calcium, magnesium, boron, molybdenum, silicon, zinc

1. Improve the tolerance to the environment

2. Improved water retention

3. Enhance nutrient uptake

4. Promote new roots growth and flower buds differentiation

5. Delaying crops aging

6. Increase in production

Go Beauty 380 (Special for Color Enhancement):

0-0-0 with Cobalt, calcium, magnesium, manganese, iron, boron, molybdenum, copper, zinc

1. Enhance the fruit coloration include the pedicel, skin and calyx

2. Promoting shiny and smooth fruit skin.

3. Enhance nutrient absorption

4. Encourage anthocyanin and carotenoids synthesis

5. Increase the rate of photosynthesis

6. At expansion period prevent fruits cracking and drop.

Go Sweet 390 (Special for Increase the Sweetness of Melons and Fruits):

3-12-18 with cobalt, calcium, manganese, iron, boron, molybdenum

1. Improve nutrient synthesis and transformation

2. Increase sweetness and enhance the flavor

3. Improve fruit quality and color

4. Increase the rate of photosynthesis

5. Promote the nutrients influx and uptake from leaves and roots to the fruits.

Fruit Ripening:

Harvest:

From May to August, the mangos turn from green to yellow/orange. The degree of fruit flesh disorder is closely related to the fruit ripeness. Controlling the fruits with a ripeness level of 7-9 can reduce the rate of disorder.

When young shoots started to grow:

Pruning and cleaning:

After harvesting, shorten the fruit-bearing branches to 1-2 nodes to promote new shoots growth, and cut out thin or diseased branches and other overcrowded branches. Remove fallen fruits that are infected or contain insect eggs, and seal them in plastic bags to expose them to high temperatures and disposed properly.

Basal fertilizer:

Mixing basal fertilizer with organic compost can provide short-term and long-term nutrients for the growth of spring and summer shoots and facilitate the accumulation of nutrients for the following year. Appropriately use of foliar liquid fertilizer can promote leaf bud differentiation and development of new shoots. It is recommended to use Root Forte 110 & Go Flower 350 to strengthen the root and new shoot growth, increase the number of flower buds and reduce flower and fruit drop.

Root Forte 110 (Special for Rooting and Germination):

1.5-0-1.5 with calcium, boron, molybdenum

1. Encourage root growth without yellowing of leaves and strengthen new sprouts.

2. Increase the growth of new sprouts.

3. Activation of mesophyll tissue

4. Delaying crops aging

5. Improved the soil aggregate structure

Go Flower 350 (Special for Blooming and Fruit Set):

4-15-4 with Calcium, Magnesium, Manganese, Boron, Molybdenum, Zinc

1. Encourage flower bud differentiation

2. Increase the numbers of flower buds

3. Promote more flowering

4. Young fruits are expansion rapidly

5. Flowers and fruits are not easy to drop

6. Improve fruits quality
